There are patch notes for the Jujutsu Kaisen collaboration:
Greetings from the Summoners War Dev Team!
Today, we have exciting news to share - Summoners War X Jujutsu Kaisen collaboration!
We are deeply grateful for the enthusiastic response from Summoners who have expressed their interest and left messages of anticipation since the collaboration advance notice was released.
To celebrate our 10th anniversary of service, we have planned a collaboration with the popular anime, Jujutsu Kaisen, to provide even more fun and enjoyment.
Before diving into the dev note, please check out the video we've prepared to talk about the collaboration.
In this collaboration, the famous characters of Jujutsu Kaisen appear in Summoners War, along with various new content for new adventures.
We are working hard to prepare the update and meet the update schedule for Jul. 30th.
We will walk you through the collab content one by one, but let us introduce how it all started.
[Summoners War X Jujutsu Kaisen]
A special alliance between Summoners and Jujutsu Sorcerers is ready to begin on Jul. 30th, 2024.
When an unexpected anomaly emerged on Sky Island, Summoners began looking for a solution. Finally, they contacted Jujutsu Sorcerers from another world, who arrived on Sky Island to fix the problem themselves.
Let us introduce the new comrades that will join us.
Jujutsu Kaisen is a popular anime that first aired in 2020. It focuses on curses and jujutsu, following the main character, Yuji Itadori, as he faces massive curses and completes numerous missions with others while evolving along the way.
The anime has grown immensely popular around the world due to its captivating action scenes and delicate emotional expressions, as well as a gripping storyline. This has resulted in large audience numbers, increasing its appeal.
We have selected five characters from Jujutsu Kaisen, who are the main and key characters, to feature as collab characters: [Yuji Itadori, Megumi Fushiguro, Nobara Kugisaki, Satoru Gojo, and Ryomen Sukuna].
Yuji Itadori, who absorbs curses to become a powerful jujutsu sorcerer; Megumi Fushiguro, who summons shikigami to fight; Nobara Kugisaki, who uses nails and cursed dolls for unique attacks; Satoru Gojo, the overwhelmingly skilled jujutsu sorcerer; and Ryomen Sukuna, the king of curses with a formidable presence. They all have been wonderfully recreated in a Summoners War style while retaining their distinct character traits from the original series.
The Jujutsu Kaisen collaboration characters, like past collaborations, will be added in their awakened forms only with their original names. Satoru Gojo will be available as a Nat 5 character in all attributes, while Yuji Itadori, Megumi Fushiguro, and Nobara Kugisaki will be added as Nat 4 and 5 characters, depending on the attribute. Ryomen Sukuna will be a Nat 5 character with a Dark attribute who will be available from a collab special event.
While their appearances are appealing, what is even more interesting is how the original characters' skills have been applied in Summoners War.
We are excited to give a sneak peek of some of these skills.
The dev team was particularly intrigued by Nobara Kugisaki's [Straw Doll Technique: Resonance] skill.
In the anime series, this technique involved putting a straw doll on a section of the enemy's body and hammering a nail through it to deliver attacks. In the turn-based RPG Summoners War, this is redesigned as a third skill that can be used without cooldown against enemies that have attacked her.
Not only was the skill effect deliberately constructed, but the animation was also carefully designed.
It will be fun to see how numerous skill animations and effects from the anime series have been reinterpreted in this collab.
One skill that has been thoroughly adapted from the original anime is Black Flash by Yuji Itadori. We referred to the description in the anime series that Black Flash activates when there is a difference of just 0.000001 seconds between the physical strike and cursed energy and made the skill effect of Black Flash be activated only when the enemy is attacked, rendered in black and red regardless of the character's attribute.
The characters' skill animations and effects have been beautifully redone in a Summoners War style while maintaining the original anime's dash.
Observing how various techniques and abilities in the anime were adopted in the Jujutsu Kaisen collab will bring a new level of enjoyment.
Now, please take a look at what the Jujutsu Kaisen collaboration will bring you in terms of new content.
■ Jujutsu High School
Jujutsu High School is where the main characters of Jujutsu Kaisen attend lessons and complete training missions, revealing many storylines about Yuji Itadori and his comrades!
During the collab period, you can complete a variety of quests at the newly introduced Jujutsu High School on Sky Island. It will also serve as the location for the new minigame, Boss Rush.
■ Collab Exclusive Content: [Boss Rush]
Boss Rush is collab content in the form of a minigame. Different bosses of Summoners War will appear continuously, and you will have to clear them one by one.
It's a virtual training place created by the Magic Council specifically for jujutsu sorcerers and Summoners to train. Because all battles in Boss Rush are done with boss-only waves, you can expect even more intense and exhilarating action.
Concerned about facing powerful bosses? We believe that Summoners who are already familiar with all of the boss patterns can effectively complete this challenge.
Now let's look into how the battles will progress.
▶ [Boss Rush] Battle Details
✔️ You can enter battle with five Monsters.
Build a party of five Monsters to battle fearsome bosses from Cairos Dungeon, Dimension Hole, Tartarus' Labyrinth, and event dungeons.
✔️ A battle consists of 10 waves.
Boss Rush does not feature any mid-waves but only the last boss wave. Each wave has a different boss, allowing you to play 10 waves of 10 bosses per week. During the collab period, Boss Rush will be available for nine weeks, with components of 10 bosses changing each week.
If you defeat all 10 bosses from waves 1 to 10, you will earn a weekly reward.
After clearing all 10 bosses up to wave 10, you can restart from the first boss in wave 11 at a higher difficulty level, with battles continuing in 10-wave increments. In addition to the weekly reward for clearing wave 10, a small amount of reward will be given based on the wave progression. Because the Boss Rush ranking system will show the maximum number of waves you've cleared, you can compare your records with your friends/guild members to see who can clear more waves.
▶ [Boss Rush] Ranking
The record for the maximum number of waves cleared will be displayed in the Boss Rush rankings.
There will be various rankings in Boss Rush: server ranking, community ranking, and guild ranking.
Guild rankings are determined by the waves that guild members cleared collectively.
Summoners who place first in each week will have their name marked in the Hall of Fame, raising the guild's honor and boasting their skills to the entire server.
Also, have a look at the list of weekly rewards available when you defeat all 10 bosses that appear in waves 1-10.
▶ [Boss Rush] Weekly Reward
The event dungeon content that many Summoners enjoyed playing has been developed for the Jujutsu Kaisen collaboration as well.
■ Collab Exclusive Content: Event Dungeon
Reflecting the setting of the original anime, Shibuya, as the backdrop has made this Jujutsu Kaisen collab event dungeon even more fascinating. Jujutsu Kaisen anime viewers would probably recall the fierce fights battled against special grade curses in Shibuya Station.
Summoners who appreciate the original anime will find this dungeon to be nostalgic and fun, while those unfamiliar with Jujutsu Kaisen will also find it an exciting battle experience.
Similar to previous collaborations, the Event Dungeon is added to the World Map. You can enter the dungeon by tapping the icon on the World Map.
The event dungeon consists of multiple stages. By clearing each stage that is in tiles, you can advance to the adjacent stages.
Three loots with random effects appear whenever you clear a stage. You can select one of them to enhance your Monsters or gain a special ability. These effects will help you clear stages and bosses more easily.
▶ The Collab Characters can be used in battle.
When you enter the Event Dungeon, you can select one of the four Collab Characters to use in the battle.
▶ The Event Dungeon consists of Normal, Hard, and Hell difficulties.
You can proceed to the next difficulty upon clearing the boss stage in the order of Normal > Hard > Hell.
You can obtain a clear reward upon clearing each difficulty. A special reward will be provided weekly if you clear the boss of Hell difficulty.
▶ There are Normal, Elite, Support, Upgrade, and Boss stages.
▶ Monsters defeated during battle cannot be used again.
The Monster that was defeated in battle cannot be used anymore for the rest of the week.
▶ Event Dungeon Bosses
Hanami, Dagon, and Jogo, who appeared as special grade cursed spirits, will appear as bosses in Normal, Hard, and Hell, respectively.
Please take a look at Dagon, the boss that will be ready for you in Hard difficulty.
Dagon is a Water attribute boss that has a passive skill that grants a 30% damage reduction effect against Wind Monsters and a 50% additional damage effect against Water Monsters. It will be tricky to battle Dagon since it rules out the attribute relation. But, as always, we believe that many Summoners will come up with their own tactic to defeat the boss.
▶ Event Dungeon Reward
A boss appears in the last stage of each difficulty. You can obtain rewards according to the difficulty upon clearing the boss.
The event dungeon resets every week. If you clear the boss of Hell difficulty, you can obtain a special reward for that week. The weekly rewards are as follows.
Next, we'll summarize and introduce the content that will be available during the collab period.
